Smith, who played under Sourav during his stint with the Sahara Pune Warriors in IPL is in the form of his life. The Australian captain justified his promotion as RPS captain by steering his side to a brilliant seven wicket win against Mumbai Indians on Thursday. Smith scored an unbeaten 84 runs off 54 balls that included seven hits to the fence along with three towering sixes. "He is in outstanding form at the moment," Ganguly told reporters on the sidelines of an apparel accessories, home furnishing and decor items store launch here. "He is just a quality player and currently one of the world's best batsmen. He showed his class by switching formats so swiftly in such a short time," Ganguly added. Smith recently led Australia to a 1-2 series defeat against India. The 27-year-old batsman amassed 499 runs in eight innings with an average of 71.28. He ended up as the top scorer in the series, notching up three hundreds in the series Ganguly, who was present during the IPL opening ceremony in Hyderabad, said the cash-rich league has gone from strength to strength over the years and is a "huge affair" now.
