Image Source: twitter[/caption] Internet Desk: Wriddhiman Saha on Monday achieved a unique milestone, by becoming the wicketkeeper with the second most dismissals in a season. The Bengal stumper finished the 2016-17 season with 26 dismissals, two more than his illustrious senior who was associated with 24 dismissals in 2012-13 season. Syed Kirmani leads the table with 35 dismissals in 1979-80 season. Saha also joined an elite club of Indian wicketkeepers who has scored more than 1000 test runs. He joined the likes of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Syed Kirmani, Farokh Engineer, Nayan Mongia and Kiran More after his innings in Dharamsala. The glovesman from Siliguri though missed the mark of reaching 1000 runs as a specialist keeper as he was dismissed on 31. Only Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Syed Kirmani, Farokh Engineer, Nayan Mongia and Kiran More have scored more than 1000 runs as wicketkeeper. Former India captain leads the pack with 4876 runs at an average of 38 with 33 fifties and six centuries. Saha looked set to reach the milestone, but a well directed bouncer from Cummins led to his downfall as he fended off to Steven Smith standing at slips. The Australian captain took a stunning one handed catch. At the start of Day 3, Saha went past 1000 runs as a batsman by gliding Pat Cummins to third man for a couple. The Bengal wicket-keeper made his debut in 2010 against South Africa in Nagpur but in that Test, he played as a specialist batsman. With Dhoni dominating the scene, Saha got chances only when Dhoni was suspended or injured. However, following the retirement of the former India skipper from Tests in December 2014 against Australia in Melbourne, Saha became a regular.
