Coach Trevor Morgan and his shrewd tactics hardly allowed Albert Roca and his men to trouble the Red and Gold brigade. East Bengal started the game with an emphatic fashion and a new pledge to turn the tide back in their favour. Trevor Morgan's team perhaps had the best game of this Hero I-League as the men in Red & Gold played some ineffable football at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. East Bengal got their first chance in the 6th minute when Australian forward Chris Payne delivered a fine ball from the left for Rowlin Borges, but the midfielder blasted the volley over the cross bar. The Red & Gold brigade got the opening goal in the 23rd minute when Wedson Anselme scored perhaps one of the top 3 goals of the season with a spellbinding left-footed effort from the right after some delightful dribbling skills. East Bengal got another golden opportunity in the 38th minute when Mehtab provided a gorgeous ball from the middle for Chris Payne, but the Australian missed an open sitter as Arindam Bhattacharya made a superb save. The only chance which came for Bengaluru in the first half, was in the 41st minute when CK Vineeth missed a great opportunity to beat Rehenesh with a header, but eventually couldn't quite connect it properly. Bengaluru started the second half positively as Sunil Chhetri's long range effort went just wide of the far post. The closest BFC came to score a goal was in the 53rd minute, when Daniel missed a sitter, failed to score from two yards out from the goal. East Bengal doubled their lead in the 54th minute when Robin Singh scored a brilliant goal in the 54th minute against his former side with a thumping header after Robert delivered a great cross from the left. Robin scored his second and East Bengal's third goal of the game in the 58th minute after getting a fine pass from Chris Payne from the left and the Delhi-boy finished it with a lot of authority, giving no chance to the BFC goalkeeper. Meanwhile, East Bengal's star performer Wedson Anselme picked up an injury and had to leave the ground as Trevor Morgan took no chance with the star Haitian. The exit of Wedson allowed the home team to attack with a lot of freedom and they tried their best in the leadership of Sunil Chettri to come back into game. But the East Bengal defence played with a commanding presence in front Rehenesh to prevent the incessant attacks. BFC got a consolation goal in the 85th minute when Udanta made a darting solo run and played a great ball for onrushing CK Vineeth on the far post, who pushed the ball at the back of the net to make it 3-1. The outstanding victory puts East Bengal back on top of the points table with 24 points, leaving Aizawl FC at the second spot and Mohun Bagan at the third position. At the same time Trevor Morgan silences his critics to clinch a victory which seems to be a monumental feat for any I-League side to beat BFC at their own fortress. Hero of The Match: Robin Singh
