Image Source: XtraTime[/caption] Internet Desk: South African batting maestro AB de Villiers set a personal milestone on Saturday by surpassing the 9000 run milestone. In doing so he also went past former India captain Sourav Ganguly who took 23 innings more than AB to reach the milestone. De Villiers achieved the feat during the third ODI at Wellington on Saturday. De Villiers became the 18th player in cricketing history and second Proteas batsman behind Jacques Kallis to reach the 9,000-run milestone but has the highest average of 53.86 and is the only one of the leading scorers to have a strike-rate of 99.94. De Villiers started the tour against Blackcaps needing just 87 runs to reach the 9,000-run milestone and played an unbeaten knock of 37 runs in the 1st ODI in Hamilton. In the second game between South Africa and New Zealand at Hagley Oval in Christchurch the former Proteas skipper scored 45 runs and he needed just 5 runs to score in the third ODI. Indian captain Virat Kohli has a ODI run-tally of 7,755 from 171 innings, which shows he needs to score 245 runs in his next 10 innings to break the current 8,000 run mark of 182 innings - held by AB de Villiers. India's batting legend Sachin Tendulkar has the most ODI runs with 18,426 but averaged 44.83 with a strike rate of 86.23. De Villiers' highest ODI score is an unbeaten 162 against West Indies two years back.
