It was Real Madrid’s first win over Atletico in La Liga for three years at the Vicente Calderon. Real won the match by a comprehensive 3-0 margin to lead the points table. They are four points clear of second placed Barcelona who failed to get past nine-man Malaga. The Catalans missed the service of superstars Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez as the match ended in a 0-0 stalemate. It was the third defeat in four matches for Diego Simeone’s team and their dream to win the La Liga seems to be dashed as they are now nine points adrift Real Madrid. Real was lucky to take the lead as Ronaldo’s shot got deflected to defeat an excellent Jan Oblak. The Portugese star doubled the lead for his side from a spot kick in the 19^th minute. He made no mistake from a Gareth Bale assist to score his hat-trick. The hat-trick also helped Ronaldo reach a milestone as he is now the all-time leading scorer in Madrid derbies with 18 goals. Real looked impressive throughout the first 45 minutes and did not seemed to be affected without six key players in captain Sergio Ramos, Pepe, Casemiro, Toni Kroos, Alvaro Morata and Karim Benzema. Ronaldo was close to get his name on the score-sheet in the 12^th minute as his powerful header was acrobatically saved by the Atletico goalkeeper diving to his left. Luis Suarez too was missing from the Barca squad as he was serving a suspension. Without his usual two strike partners, the focus was on Neymar to break down the mass ranks of Malaga defence. But the Brazilian failed to deliver. Juan Carlos had the best chance of the game for Malaga just before the hour mark when he rounded Barca 'keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen but fired into the side-netting with the goal gaping. Malaga was down to 10 men in the 69^th minute after Diego Llorente was flashed Red Card for a dangerous foul on Neymar. The Catalans failed to take the advantage of 10 men Malaga.
