The ineffable success of Bengaluru FC in the AFC Cup this season as the first Indian club to reach the final is what Armando dreamt for a long time. The Goan mastermind is feeling the warmth of a proud Indian dreamer to clinch the glory at Doha on 5th November in the historic final. In a special interview with Suman Chakravorty of www.xtratime.in, Armando revealed a lot of words which he kept within himself for a long time. From Sunil Chhetri to Ashley Westwood, Colaco was conspicuous in a friendly interview. Here goes the conversation: XT: How much happy are you in the success of Bengaluru FC in the AFC Cup? Armando: I am delighted. One of the happiest moments of my life. I have always dreamt and believed that an Indian club will win the AFC Cup one day and Bengaluru FC is just one step away from touching that feat. I'm thrilled. This is what happens when you keep the same team for a long time in together. The same I did for Dempo. I want to thank Ashley Westwood for his tremendous work. To me, he is the architect. XT: Your Dempo was the first side to reach the semi final of the AFC Cup. Now, BFC have become the first to reach the final. How do you compare these two success stories? Armando: It is difficult to compare the two stories. Is it possible to compare Pele and Maradona? Bengaluru FC is carrying 'my dream' in the AFC Cup final. I'm extremely excited to see an Indian club in the final. I don't hope, but believe that Bengaluru FC can win the final too. They have the team to do it. XT: Between your Dempo side and Roca’s Bengaluru FC , which team do you  seem to be stronger in terms of the squad strength? Armando: Like I mentioned, it is tough to compare. But Roca is following his own ways. I don't want to take anything away from him but my friend, you have to confess that Ashley is the man who made it possible. Credit must be given to the players too with the way they achieved this amazing record. XT: This would be the first middle-east power house for BFC to face in the entire tournament. How tough will it be? Armando: Well, this is true. I can remember that we played top teams from Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq and Lebanon to reach the semi final but BFC will be facing probably the first so called power-house of the Middle-East Asia. Still I believe they have done a phenomenal job. It will no doubt be tough but I think BFC can win this hurdle too. XT: Had you been there as the BFC coach, what could have been your plans for the final? Armando: First of all, I want to say that this is a lesson for all the I-League clubs of the country. If you can create a proper system, a proper team for the future and the hunger for achieving something for the country, you can reach your goal. Had I been there as the coach, I wouldn't have too much plans for the final. I would have asked my team to play the best football of their lives and to enjoy the stage, which is the illusive final. XT: As the most successful coach in the history of the I-League, what would be your message for the BFC footballers? Armando: All I want to say is, go for the kill, enjoy the game and believe that you can win the trophy. You have already scripted your names on the pages of history and this barrier can give you the opportunity to touch the pinnacle of your career. Go boys, win it! The nation is with you. XT: If BFC wins the final, how big an impact will it be in Indian football? Armando: It will be huge my friend! If they win, they will play the Asian Champions League. Can you believe it! Indian club football will be recognized across the globe. It will be incredible, I don't have words to depict it. The biggest success ever in the history of Indian club football. My prayers will be with BFC. XT: One off-topic question. Who is better between Bhaichung and Sunil? Armando: Well (smiles), interesting question indeed. To me both are the greats of Indian football. Bhaichung too did some great things in his playing days. Both are successful but Sunil has gone one step further than Bhaichung. Sunil's record is enough to speak about his monarchy. The highest international goal scorer for India, immensely successful in club level, played in foreign clubs; Sunil is a different metal altogether.
