Internet Desk : Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has retaliated strongly against ex-Pakistan batsman Javed Miandad's comment that both India and Pakistan should resume cricket soon between them overlooking the recent URI military base attack on 18 September. Four terrorists killed 17 Indian Jawans in the attack. Miandad in an exclusive interview to leading Bengali daily Ananda Bazar Patrika claimed that the terrorists who attacked the URI base are not from Pakistan rather India should investigate who they were. In an exclusive interview to the same newspaper Gambhir said, "I was never a fan of Miandad's wit and now after this comment it seems he has lost his head completely. If they have not come from Pakistan then from where they had come?"
Miandad in his interview also stated that the two countries should immediately resume cricket and only then an environment of peace can be created between the two countries. Replying to this Gambhir launched a scathing attack on the ex-Pakistan batsman stating, "playing cricket with Pakistan now is out of any question. Is he joking or staying in an utopian world? people are crossing the border and killing our people how can he think of playing cricket with his country now? I Gautam Gambhir a citizen of the country is not interested of what they (Pakistanis) are thinking. It's better not to talk about them now".
Gambhir feels the artists who are here from Pakistan should return to their country and said, "there is no need of any cricket or cultural exchanges between the countries now, rather the security of all the citizens should be the first priority of the Government". In his interview Gambhir opined that he is not in favor of war rather he feels India should strengthen security on the line of Control.
When asked the franchise he plays in IPL Kolkata Knight Riders has an ex- Pakistan pacer Wasim Akram in it. Should he be excluded from the team management? Gambhir replied, "I play for the franchise and it is totally upto them to decide but i personally feel the price of human lives are far more than playing cricket.
