Image : XtraTime[/caption] Internet Desk : India’s star Paralympics athlete Devendra Jhajharia surpasses his own world record in men’s javelin throw F46 event to give another gold medal in Rio Paralympics 2016. The 36 years old athlete efficiently defended his medal from the Athens Paralympics 2004 where he had set the world record with an amazing throw of 62.15 metres. On Tuesday, he bettered it with an attempt of 63.97 metres to grab the illusive Gold medal. Devendra last participated in the Paralympics 12 years ago with his F46 Javelin event. The champion didn't feature in the 2008 and 2012 Paralympic editions. Devendra competed with fellow Indians Rinku Hooda and Sundar Singh Gurjar at the same event. Rinku finished fifth with a personal best of 54.39 metres in six attempts, while Sundar Singh Gurjar didn’t start the event. The gold medal takes India’s medal tally at this edition of the Paralympics to four, with two golds, one silver and a bronze. The athlete from Rajasthan, with an amputated left hand, was awarded the Arjuna award in 2004 and the Padmashri in 2012, becoming the first Paralympian to receive the honour. The new star of Indian athletics won Gold at the International Paralympic Committee’s (IPC) Athletics World Championships in Lyon, back in 2013.
