Internet Desk : Aditya Varma the Petitioner in the IPL  spot fixing scandal has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi warning that the enactment of the sports bill could result in the Government taking control on BCCI.

Verma’s warning has come at a moment when the BCCI faces a two times’ deadline to change the board officials, as recommended by the Supreme Court appointed Lodha Committee.

There is a rumour that BCCI is aiming to go to the Government of India to bring a bill which will provide a path to the Board to get over the recommendations of the justice Lodha Panel , which will help the lobby of BCCI , Verma in his letter.

He added that the officials of BCCI should implement the changes that has been recommended by Lodha Committee to bring clarity and good administration in the board.

The Lodha Committee has not made any recommendation for Government intervention in running BCCI. An effort to get to the Parliament to pass the sports bill will only outcome the Government taking authority of the Board.

“ As a consequence , the move if any , to get any legislation passed to nullify the Lodha panel’s recommendation will be counter productive and misconceived “ . Verma Added
