Pic Twitter[/caption] Internet Desk: German legendary footballer Franz Beckenbauer has been investigated for corruption charges over 2006 World Cup bidding, which was hosted by Germany as they won bidding. Swiss prosecutors investigated following criminal charges against the former player cum coach of German national team. Along with him three other members of the cup's organising committee are also under scanner. "The proceedings relate in particular to allegations of fraud, criminal mismanagement, money laundering and misappropriation", the Swiss office said in a statement. The officers under scanner are Wolfgang Niersbach, member of FIFA and UEFA executive committee; Theo Zwanzigar, former member of FIFA and UEFA executive committee; Horst Rudolf Schmidt, vice-president of LOC. Beckenbauer's home in Austria was among the properties searched. Several suspects were also questioned. Germany beat South Africa 12-11 in the World Cup vote, which took place in July 2000.
