However, family could not confirm the state of her injury. Saina's father Harvir Singh said, "Saina has been hospitalized for the last two days and is undergoing treatment for her injury, which got worse during her match against Maria at Rio Olympic." After the loss in group match at Rio against Ukraine's Maria Ulitina, Saina cited her injury as the reason for her defeat. She said that she has sustained the injury before her Rio campaign and had fat pad inflammation on her knee. Saina returned India on 16th August. The very next day she was admitted to hospital and underwent any MRI. "The doctors have not revealed the contents of the MRI scan to me. I will be able to talk about it tomorrow, not today", Singh said. The untimely injury was sustained 10 days before her Rio campaign and her team tried their best to bring her back in safe for the event. The problem resurfaced post her opening game and she was administered dexamethasone after consultation with the IOC doctors. "The doctor here had referred her case to a hospital at Mumbai and she will be flying from Hyderabad", Saina's father said.
