As you come out of the George FL Charles airport, you are welcomed by lovely sea beaches with the B eauséjour hills in the backdrop. Taxi driver David drives me past the cemetery adjacent to the airport, leading to Gros Islet where the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium is located. it is also the venue for the third test match between India and West Indies begining from Tuesday. As David takes me past the lovely sea beaches, it starts pouring heavily. And no sooner the travelling Indian media contingent get the confirmation that the team will not be practicing on Saturday. It is quite a normal thing here when heavy downpour is followed by a bright sunlight. But the half an hour downpour was enough to get the outfield at the stadium wet due to which the Indian team was forced to cancel their practice session. The players chose to stay indoors as there is not much activity happening around except for enjoying the lovely sea beaches. Indian coach Anil Kumble tweeted a picture taken from his hotel room. Anil Kumble tweetThe Indian cricketers have now enjoyed three days off from practice session. It was a travelling day on Thursday as they arrived late evening to St Lucia from Jamaica. The team had an off-day yesterday i.e., Friday. And the weather conditions and wet outfield forces Virat and his team to stay at their hotel rooms for a consecutive third day on tour. The series is interestingly poised with India leading 1-0 after the drawn test at Sabina Park. More to follow ……………..
