The present condition of the event going to be held in Rio from 11th August shows hope for Medal for Indian golfers. Golf returned to Olympics  for the first time since 1904 Games. According to rules golfers within the world ranking of top60 were eligible for Rio 2016. Indian men golfers easily made the cut earlier this year. Lahiri, Chawrasia were placed 20th, 45th in the latest International Golf Federation's (IGF) rankings. Later the lone women golfer form Bangalore Aditi Ashok made her cut. Performance of Anirban Lahiri throughout the last year is of much envying. He also had a good season with two wins during the European Tour and an outstanding tied fifth finish at the PGA Championship. It was also the best result for any Indian at a Major event of golf. After all he is the Asian Tour's Order of Merit winner of 2015. "Olympian Anirban Lahiri sounds good, but Olympic medalist Anirban Lahiri would sound way better," Lahiri aspired after qualifying for Rio. SSP Chawrasia is also not lagging far behind. As per his recent performance he won the Indian Open earlier this year. Chawrasia has won four international titles till date, three of which came in the European Tour. Aditi ashok is the youngest of the trio to hold up tricolor in Rio golf court. She was consistent throughout the year having the latest ranking of 57. Apart from all the personal abilities of the Indian golfers India can hope for a Medal from Rio as top ranking golfers pulled out their names from the Rio 2016 in fear of Zika virus. However, there is controversy following their decision of pulling out their names from Olympic. Professional Golf Tour of India members wished good luck to Indian golfer trio. Chikkarangappa, the 2015 Rolex Ranking champion, who has grown up playing alongside Lahiri, commented, “It’s a great moment for us to see three of our top players going to Rio. Both Anirban and SSP have done India proud over the years with their exploits on the international stage. Aditi has also been in good form.”
