Particularly after the defeat in 2004 Euro Cup the Portugal fans were holding their breath to win the match Sunday. As Ronaldo cried on the 25th minute of the match whole Portugal were in tears. Losing their leader from the final ground Portuguese fans reacted, “We lost Ronaldo 20 minutes into the game, one of the guys hit him right on the side of the knee.” The fan from Montreal of Canada also said, “He was in a lot of pain, he was crying getting off the field. So, he’s done.” Another fan in Lisbon said, “Ronaldo didn't deserve to finish like that in tears. It's really very sad.” However, a section of Portuguese fans claims the exit of Ronaldo as the turning point for Portugal. As the leader of the team was out ofthe match forced by injury the team was charged up to take revenge against France. “That’s why I’m hoping Portugal steps up their game,” said one supporter. After the match turned to the extra time heart beat raised for the Portuguese fans. Crowd of ten thousand gathered at the central Lisbon got tensed. Not all were confident of the win at that time. The crowd shuddered with fear which turned to euphoria after the goal. After the final whistle sounded, booming cheers echoed through the streets of Lisbon, as fans in cars waved flags and honked their horns with fireworks exploding overhead. City of Canada, Montreal has fifty-fifty of French and Portuguese. After the win Portuguese came out on the streets of Montreal. Bar Monsieur Ricard on Parc Ave. was flooded with frenzied people, their eyes transfixed by the game. People of Lisbon came out on the streets shouting “Champions, we are Europe Champions. “ "Portugal! Portugal!" screamed Carla Martins before losing her voice. "I believed in us right until the end. We deserved it!" this was the reaction of each and every Portuguese after the match.
