Brandon Valpuia (19') and Yuta Kinowaki (58') scored for the home side before Ranti Martins (69' [P], 85' and 88') secured all three points for East Bengal against highlanders. After this win hattrick boy Ranti Martins will be flying to Nigeria to spend time with his family. Aizawl FC after their nine day break came plagued with injuries as Jahar Das implmented four changes from their 2-2 draw at Mumbai. Soram Poirei, Brandon VL Remdika and Lalbiakhlua featured with new signing Joel Sunday, making his first ever start. ZoThanmawia, Albert and Lalmuankima were passed unfit. Biswajit Bhattacharya made wholesale alterations as East Bengal struggled in their travels. Luis Barreto replaced Rehenesh TP in goal and Joaquim Abranches featured in place of Do Dong-Hyun. Harmanjot Singh Khabra replaced Rahul Bheke in the sideback while Shnaj Singh started after coming back from suspension and Saumik Dey made way for Robert.  Local lads Shylo Mama and Ricky Lalthlamuana started the game for the Red and Golds. East Bengal were a goal down inside the first twenty minutes as Brandon Valpuia broke the deadlock. Japanese midfielder Yuta Kinowaki found space and curled the ball in from the right. Alfred Jaryan went past his marker to feed the ball towards winger Valpuia and the youngster did no mistake beating Barreto with a right footer from the left corner of the box. Mehtab Hossain was taken off for Cavin Lobo soon after as a back injury prevented him to further take part in the match. Just around the half an hour mark, Luis Barreto pulled off an impeccable save to deny Lalbiakhlua from the wings. A minute short of the break, Brandon had an opportunity to double the lead with a brace of his own but Luis Barreto came calling with an important save.   At the end of the first half the scoreline remained 1-0 in favour of Aizawl FC. Just at the beginning of the second half East Bengal made the first change bringing in Bikash Jairu for Mama. Aizawl FC scored the second with two minutes from the hour. Lalram Chullova released Yuta Kinowaki inside the six yard box as Bernard Mendy failed to get onto the end of the ball. The Japanese midfielder lobbed the ball past a hapless Luis Barreto. Nigerian defender Emmanuel Chigozie was shown a direct red in the 67th minute for bringing down compatriot Ranti Martins in a rather harsh tackle inside the box. The ensuing spot-kick was diligently converted by Ranti as he sent Poirei the wrong way, depositing the ball into the right corner of the net. Bikash Jairu’s darting run from the left followed a pin point cross into the box where Ranti guided the ball into the net with a powerful header. Two minutes later, East Bengal found the winner completing a major setback for the home crowd through Ranti yet again. Mohammed Rafique, buoyed from his India call up shimmied in the ball to find an unmarked Ranti as the 30 year old found the target with ease. Right on the 90 minute mark, Lalram Chullova was given his marching orders for a second booking, compiling on the agony of the succeeding defeat. Piling on Ranti’s hattrick, East Bengal remain on the third position with 20 points from 11 matches while Aizawl FC are on eighth position with 9 points from 11 games. East Bengal will next play again on  2nd April which is the big derby. Biswajit Bhattacharya quoted as saying, " This happens after every matches with the home fans. But referee's decision is the final one and you have to abide by it." Ranti Martins after the match quoted as saying, " This win is a morale booster for us before the derby. If we would have lost this match then derby would have  been of no value." In another match, Salgaocar pipped Shillong Lajong 1-0 at Vasco with a solitary goal from Gilbert Oliviera.
