January 1999 ahead of the Ind-Pak Test match at the Feroz Shah Kotla about 25 supporters of firebrand Hindu leader Bal Thackeray's Shiv Sena party stormed New Delhi's Ferozeshah Kotla stadium, the venue of the first Test, and dugged up the pitch. Then, the Shiv Sena, which claimed responsibility for the attack, said they would "go to any extent" to prevent the Pakistani cricketers from playing in India. The match did happened on the venue but it was postponed till 4 February, 1999 which was supposed to begin from 28 January. Four acticists were also arrested on this issue. It’s a high risk ahead of the mega match of theT20 World Cup at Dharamshala as an Anti-Terrorist front has threatened that it would dig up the pitch to protest the holding of the match at Dharamsala stadium demanding that the Pakistan cricket team be not allowed to play in the WorldT20 match against India here on March 19. “If the Pakistan team comes to Dharamsala to play against Indian cricket team, we will dig out the pitch in HPCA stadium,” national president of Anti-Terrorist Front of India, Virender Shandilya said. “There is a high risk that Pakistani terrorists can enter the area during the match and if Himachal Pradesh government allows the tie, it will be the disrespect towards the martyrs of Pathankot and Pampore,” Shandilya told reporters. Shandilya claimed that he had written letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh in this regard and will also meet state Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and Leader of Opposition PK Dhumal. “We will protest against this match in Dharamsala in a big way in the coming days,” said Shandilya.
