The I League winning coach has been roped in by the Kolkata giants with an eye to win all the major trophies including the I League this season. The former Aizwal FC coach is already feeling the pressure of expectation from the fans and media. “There is no doubt pressure, but this is all part of the game. I also need time to settle down. I am talking with all my players, trying to understand them. Seniors and juniors must gel together as a unit.” The seven times Calcutta League champions will begin their campaign for a record eighth title this season. The Red and Golds will play their first match on August 07. The club is planning to play a couple of practice matches before the start of the Calcutta League. “We have plans to play a couple of practice matches. The boys have been trying hard and will need time to settle down. But I am confident that we will be ready before the first match in Calcutta League,” admitted Khalid. Last few seasons East Bengal has done well in the Calcutta league, winning it consecutively for a record seven times, but has failed to win the coveted I League. The main reason has been the lack of fitness among the players to sustain till the end of the marathon league. With Garcia joining the Red and Golds this season, one would hope Jamil will have to worry less on the fitness aspect “Garcia has been working hard with the players and hopefully the results will show by the end of the season,” said the gaffer. The club is yet to decide on a residential camp in Kalyani. According to the East Bengal coach, “A final decision by the club is expected by Monday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gcvc9jYirVw
