Internet Desk: The dream run at last came to an end as Kolkata giant Kingfisher East Bengal ended up their 64th Bordoloi Trophy campaign being the runners up. 3 Star Club from Nepal became the eventual champions by a dramatic 2-1 victory.

The Calcutta Football League champions, despite taking the lead in the 84th minute, conceded a goal in the last few seconds and another one in the extra time to miss a golden opportunity to clinch the title.

BrItish defender Calum Angus, who was having a terrific form in the central defence, could not play today as he had high fever. Koushik Sarkar, despite having an injury, thus had to play the whole game and by taking everyone into surprise, the youngster led the defence like a rock.

In the 84th minute of the game, Nigerian Somide Adeleja scored a brilliant goal from a clinical header. It was a perfect cross by Jiten Murmu from the right and Adileja responded like a typical goal-poacher to give East Bengal the much needed lead.

When the fans started the celebrations, anticipating the glorious moment, it was Devendra Tamang who equalised with a fantastic finish for the 3 Star Club to take the game into extra time.

The Red Card of East Bengal right fullback Samad Ali Mullick in the final minutes of the game also gave an advantage to the Nepal champions.

The dramatic moment came in the 98th minute when Devendra Tamang again scored from a magnificent volley from the top of the box, which eventually became the winning goal to seal the title for the 3 Star Club of Nepal.

Though East Bengal could not manage to clinch the title, but the youngsters and academy players like Dibyendu Sarkar, Yami, Koushik Sarkar, Ashpreet had shown enough promise to show the milky way of a bright future.
