Image Source: thehawk.in[/caption] Internet Desk: Former BCCI president N Srinivasan was re-elected as the president of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association on Saturday. Srinivasan was unanimously elected by the members in the 86th Annual General Meeting of the association. He will head the TNCA for a record 15th consecutive time after taking over the reins in 2002-03 when he defeated former BCCI President AC Muttiah. The 71-year-old was forced to step aside as BCCI chief after his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan was found to be involved in betting by a Supreme Court-appointed inquiry committee. The association also launched the much hyped Tamil Nadu Premier League which is scheduled to take place from end of August to mid September this year. The players participating in the league will get a fixed salary cap. The current India cricketers will get Rs 5 lakh each while state level players are supposed to get Rs 2.50 lakh and those who are yet to make a state debut, will get capped for Rs 1 lakh. It may be noted that on Friday, the Madras High Court had dismissed a petition filed against conducting election in the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) on Saturday. The Petition had alleged that the association had not complied with the recommendations of the Justice R M Lodha Committee Report. The petition was filed by S Srinivason, a Chennai resident. The division bench comprising of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice R Mahadevan dismissed the petition observing that similar cases are pending with the Supreme Court and the petitioner can approach the apex court for a remedy, according to reports. The petitioner argued that it would be appropriate only if the elections are held in a free and fair manner, with due and equitable representation, as per the recommendations of the R M Lodha Committee Report, under the supervision and charge of a retired election commissioner or a court appointed administrator, only after making the due amendments in the Memorandum of Association and the rules of the TNCA.
