Xtra Time Web Desk : India U19 on Wednesday thrashed Ireland U19 in their second match of the U19 World Cup campaign by a humongous margin of 174 runs to qualify for the Super League Quarter Finals.

The Indian camp, despite being plagued severely by COVID-19 rose to the occasion to claim this memorable victory in which Nishant Sindhu led the side instead of regular skipper Yash Dhull, who tested positive for the deadly virus apart from vice captain Sheikh Rasheed and four other cricketers.

After being put into bat first by Ireland, In-form India opener Harnoor Singh and Angkrish Raghuvanshi struck fluent half-centuries to guide a virus-hit India to a challenging 307 for five against Ireland in an Under-19 World Cup game, in which they barely managed to put a playing XI on the field.

With six of their players forced into isolation after testing positive for COVID-19, left-handed Harnoor (88) and Angriksh (79) stitched a 164-run stand at the top to ensure Indian bowlers had a decent total to defend.

Coming on to bat second, chasing a humongous target of 308, Ireland's colts could never really stand up against the brilliant collective effort of the Indian bowling line up as Irish wickets fell at regular intervals without stitching any real partnerships.

Garv Sangwan, Aneeshwar Gautam and Kaushal Tambe all took 2 wickets each as the Indian colts bundled out Ireland U19 for just 133. Scott MacBeth (32) stood as the highest scorer for his team in this clash, with Joshua Cox (32) being the second highest scorer.
