East Bengal's Centenary: What is the most special 'East Bengal memory' of legendary Samaresh Chowdhury?
Gopal Roy: I-League giant East Bengal is in the brink of a massive milestone, as the Red and Gold brigade is about to celebrate its 100 glorious years. Hence, xtratime.in will be exploring the memorable moments of the greats who made their name from this illustrious club. Today, we are starting with the legendary Samaresh Chowdhury, who was known by his famous nickname, 'Pintu' and was also the captain in the 1974-75 season.
Samaresh Chowdhury: For me, my greatest memory for East Bengal came in the year 1970 when I signed for the club from Wari Club. It was an unprecedented feeling when you sign for the club you have dreamt of playing since your childhood. Since then I never had lo look back. That feeling when people used to say, "Wow! You are an East Bengal player?", was nothing less than delightful. People talk about our 5-0 victory over Mohun Bagan in 1975, but honestly, that was a habit for us to beat them from 1970-78. So, playing for the club itself is my biggest memory.

On the other hand, we denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who are so beguiled and demoralized by the charms of pleasure of the moment
