Mbappé Ends the Messi vs Ronaldo Debate with a Clear Verdict

Xtratime Web Desk: One of the biggest debates in football history continues to divide fans around the world: Who is the greatest of all time — Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo? Over the years, football experts, former players, and analysts have offered differing opinions. Some place Messi ahead, while others favor Ronaldo. Many choose a balanced approach, acknowledging the greatness of both.

Now, another football superstar has shared his view on the long-running debate. France captain Kylian Mbappé has made his position clear — and his answer leaves little room for interpretation.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of France’s World Cup clash against Iraq, Mbappé discussed Messi’s place among the tournament’s all-time leading scorers and reflected on the current World Cup campaign. While praising the Argentine legend, he was equally emphatic about Ronaldo’s status.

“I knew Messi would keep scoring because that’s what he always does,” Mbappé said. “He is ahead, and I am behind. But I want to keep scoring so that my team can go further in the tournament.”

The French forward stressed that his primary objective remains team success.

“When you score goals, your team has a better chance of progressing. My goal is to win the World Cup,” he added.

As his influence on world football continues to grow, Mbappé was asked to compare some of the biggest names in the game, including Messi, Ronaldo, Erling Haaland, and Harry Kane.

His response was straightforward.

“Messi is one of the best players in the world, just like Cristiano Ronaldo. For the last 16 years, they have been producing football of an extraordinary standard. I simply try to show what I can do on the biggest stage.”

When pressed further on who he considers the best among Messi, Ronaldo, Haaland, and Kane, Mbappé gave a definitive answer:

“Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the best.”

With that statement, the French star made his stance crystal clear.

Meanwhile, the upcoming match against Iraq is set to mark another significant milestone in Mbappé’s career. The game will be his 100th appearance for the French national team.

Reflecting on the achievement, the France captain said:

“There is nothing bigger than representing the national team. Reaching 100 matches is a historic milestone, and doing it on the World Cup stage makes it even more special. It will be an emotional moment for me, but the most important thing is the team’s victory and securing qualification for the next round.”

His words once again highlighted a key aspect of his character — despite individual accolades and personal milestones, Mbappé continues to place the success of the team above everything else.
