XtraTime Web Desk – Bengaluru FC finally secured a point after 4 games as they drew 1-1 with NorthEast United. Luck favoured them heavily, else it could’ve been another disappointing night for the blues.

The match started pretty even. Bengaluru definetly looked for all three points as their intention was clear from the first whistle. NorthEast played counter attacking football. Bengaluru looked to dominate but it’s the Highlanders who scored the important goal. Bengaluru players could’ve cleared the ball but failed to do as Machado kept his calm and scored to give his side the lead. 8 minutes after the goal, on 35th minute, NorthEast missed a sitter to which could’ve given them a 2 goal cushion. VP Suhair’s header sailed over the bars and this is a chance that all the fans will regret thinking about it. Bengaluru went cold after conceding the goal but managed to stay calm. Just before the half-time whistle, Gurmeet saved a shot brilliantly to keep NorthEast in the game. Cleiton Silva’s volley from a corner looked deadly but the goalkeeper managed to keep it out.

Gurmeet’s luck ran out in the first half. NorthEast started well in the second half but Gurmeet’s blunder destroyed NorthEast’s momentum. Rahul Bheke equalised for Bengaluru after Gurmeet failed to hold an easy ball with no pressure whatsoever. The match went even from there. Neither team was creating a good chance to score but was trying their best. VP Suhair could’ve given NorthEast the lead at one point but it was an easy save by Gurpreet’s standard.

There were few here and there from the both the teams but nothing concrete. NorthEast looked a better team but Bengaluru pushed hard as well. The match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes but Bengaluru registered their first point after 4 games.

Bengaluru now have 13 points from 11 games and are at 6th place in the table. NorthEast are just below them, in the 7th place with 12 points from 11 games.
