Will Yuvraj Singh make it to the Indian team for Australia series ?

Yuvraj-with-Punjab-teamKolkata , December 17 : Yuvraj singh  is back in contention for getting himself selected in the Indian team for the series against Australia . The selection committee will sit down to decide the team for the series Down Under next month on Saturday in New Delhi . The stylish  left hander has been in sublime form in the Vijay Hazare trophy having scored 243 runs with an average of 81 and a strike rate of 98 in 4 matches for Punjab. He is the 5thhighest scorer in this tournament.

India will play 5 ODIs and 3 T20 Internationals on their tour to Australia. Yuvraj had last played for the national side in 2014 World T20, where he failed miserable scoring just 100 runs in six games. With India not winning a single series in 2015 , the selectors will be hoping to pick the best possible squad . Rubbing salt to the wound ,India  faced the humiliation of a series loss against Bangladesh for the first time following a series defeat against South Africa.

India have been lacking that X-factor in their middle order and Yuvraj’s vast experience could be the answer to Dhoni’s middle order woes.  Yuvraj scored a prolific 93 in the first match of Vijay Hazare trophy against Mumbai. He also scored a blistering 78 runs  guiding his team to victory. His innings consisted of 10 fours and 2 mammoth sixes. Even in the Ranji Trophy this year Yuvraj have been amongst  runs. He scored 398 runs in 7 matches with an average of 36.  India failed to do well due to Suresh Raina’s inconsistency and Dhonis lack of finishing.

With the T20 World Cup scheduled for to be held in India next year , the selectors will be keeping a close eye on the left hander . Skipper Dhoni have seldom complained of not having a finisher in recent times and Yuvraj might just prove to be the solution for the Indian captain .
