Xtra Time Web Desk: All eyes will be on Virat Kohli as he goes out to bat in the 2nd T20I against England at Edgbaston cricket ground on Saturday, July 9, 2022. With Ishan Kishan doing well at the top along with Rohit Sharma, is there a need to change the opening order, especially with the T20 World Cup few months away.

Kohli will be making his first T20I appearance for India in five months since his last T20I game. With his T20 Career on crossroads, Kohli spent close to one and half hours at the nets on Friday at Edgbaston. The 33-year-old was closely monitored by Rahul Dravid during the session.

Dravid gave him throwdowns during the session. The duo was seen discussing something for more than 15 minutes after the session. Kohli’s Ticket to T20 World Cup depends on how he performs in remaining two T20 matches vs England.

Kohli is leaving no stone unturned as he makes a comeback to the T20 set-up after almost 5 months. In Kohli’s absence, the likes of Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been tried, raising questions about the 33-year-old’s place in the side.

Ahead of the 2nd T20, Virat Kohli shared a video of him batting in the nets at Edgbaston. Watch the video:

Kohli has struggled for consistency over the last couple of years, with his strike rate also taking a big hit. His performance in the IPL 2022 was also average. In 16 Matches he could score only 341 runs at an average of just 22.73.

So, come Saturday as all the focus will be on Virat Kohli the run machine.
