Who will be the next BCCI President as top board officials meet in Delhi on Thursday?

Supreme Court passes landmark decision; BCCI President Sourav Ganguly & Secretary Jay Shah to remain in post for three more years

Xtra Time Web Desk: The top BCCI officials met in the capital on Thursday night to discuss key agendas ahead of the Annual General Meeting scheduled to take place on October 18. If reports are to be believed, current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly will not contest in the elections on October 18. Ganguly is being tipped to be India’s representative for the International Cricket Council Chairman post.

There are several names doing rounds as the next BCCI President. Former World Cup winning Indian cricketer Roger Binny along with BCCI vice president Rajiv Shukla is in reckoning to be the next Board President. According to the latest development, current BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will re-contest for the same post. He is unlikely to contest for the post of BCCI President.

Thursday’s meeting was attended by Sourav Ganguly along with Jay Shah, Vice President Rajiv Shukla, Treasurer Arun Dhumal & former BCCI President N. Srinivasan.

The deadline for sending names of representatives by state associations is October 12. As per a report in Cricbuzz, 35 of the 38 state units have nominated their representatives ahead of the BCCI Elections later this month. Railways, Services, and Universities have made a request for more time with the electoral officer.

The scrutiny of the same is on October 13 and the withdrawal date is October 14. The elections meanwhile are set for October 18, the same day as the BCCI AGM.
