Internet Desk: Bangaluru FC defeated Mohun Bagan 2-0 to win the Fed Cup 2017 at the Barabati stadium situated at Cuttack.

The game was scoreless at the end of 90 minutes, but a brace from CK Vineeth saw the Blues sweep past the Kolkata side.

Mohun Bagan coach Sanjoy Sen was pretty upset after watching a lack-luster performance from his side. According to him Bengaluru FC struggled throughout the tournament but in the finals, they played well and became the champions.

“They deserve to win the game. We played bad. Out of the 11 players of my team 5-6 of them were out of form and it became very difficult for us to cope up with them. Football is a team game and is not an individual game. Bengaluru didn’t have any foreign striker upfront yet they launched series of attacks.

In the previous game, even if we have won against them, it is entirely different as it was a game of different tournament.” said the Bagan Coach.

“It is very disheartening for us that even if we have played well throughout the year, we couldn’t win any trophies. But all these are part of life and we will have to go with it” said Sen.

According to Sanjoy Sen the turning point of the game was Jeje’s header which he missed in the 80th minute. Although there were many chances openly wasted by the Green and Maroon brigade, Jeje’s header was the most vital miss of the game.

“When you lose, you have to take the blame. Even if the players didn’t perform well the coach has to take the blame for the loss. The players will review their performance and will rectify accordingly” said Sen.

Mohun Bagan still has an AFC game left and the coach is focused in that particular game. Sen’s contract runs out on 31st May.

CK Vinneth who lost his Government job of an accountant a couple of days ago emerged as the hero of the game after he scored a wonderful brace in the Extra time of the game. Lack of attendance in office resulted in his termination from the game; however the Bengaluru FC forward is not bothered about that.

“Football is my passion, my first choice always. It’s my duty to score in the ground and I am doing that at this moment” said Vineeth.
