Internet Desk: MS Dhoni, the name needs no introduction. Regarded as Captain cool in Indian cricket, Dhoni’s calm demeanor and his ability to perform under pressure sets him apart from the rest. Winner of two World Cups and a Champions Trophy, Dhoni is undoubtedly the most successful captain ever in the history of Indian cricket.

As Dhoni turns 36 today, xtratime.in tried to find out what keeps him going and compete with cricketers almost half his age.

Fitness fanatic: This would be an understatement as Dhoni is just a fitness freak. Speed and agility comes naturally to him. He keeps himself supremely fit at this age and is a lesson for the upcoming cricketers who want to make it big on international stage.

Food habits: Dhoni is always in favour of having a simple diet. His everyday meals are more of the regular ghar ka khana affair. Although the ex-Indian skipper takes great enjoyment in relishing Butter Chicken, his regular meals constitute a balance of all essential micronutrients including fibre and protein.

Love for other sports: For any sportsman the key for him to sustain in this competitive world is to be supremely fit. And no one knows better than Mahi how to keep himself fit even when you are not playing cricket. He has always been a lover of sports; besides cricket he takes great delight in playing football and badminton. He still finds time to play badminton with his friends at his hometown Ranchi at the badminton courts of DAV school.

Not in favour of gym: Dhoni has a completely different approach when it comes to keeping fit. He is not someone who will be flexing his muscles and pumping it up in the gymnasium like the other sportsmen. For him the best thing to keep himself fit is to do a lot of regular physical activity to keep his game up and his fitness well in form. Mahi has been quite vocal about his disinterest in sweating it out in the gym.

Physique: The key for Dhoni to remain supremely fit even at the age of 36 years is his physique. To be able to keep wickets for hours and also turn out to bat demand a lot of stamina, lower body strength and a rock-solid core – Dhoni seems to be acing it all effortlessly, with much finesse.
