What is the status of KL Rahul and Jaydev Unadkat’s injury as scan reports awaited | IPL2023

Xtra Time Web Desk: In what comes as a setback for the Indian team management, KL Rahul and Jaydev Unadkat has injured themselves. Both has undergone scans to asses the nature of injury. It is expected the scan reports will be available either on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The Indian team is already plagued by injury to key players. The likes of Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are all undergoing rehabilitation. With just over a month to go before the World Test Championship Final which starts next month from June 7, Indian team management are sweating over the fitness of KL Rahul and Jaydev Unadkat.

According to images available on social media, Unadkat had his arm in a sling with an ice pack on his left shoulder. It is learnt that there is no dislocation and the left arm pacer will remain in Lucknow. Lucknow Super Giants are in touch with the BCCI medical staff to determine a further course of action.

Rahul’s injury also does not seem serious as he did not need to be stretchered off. Had he torn a hamstring, he could be out of action for a lengthy period. The cricketer from Karanataka is tipped to don the wicketkeeping gloves in the WTC Final against Australia.

The BCCI have until May 22 to name a replacement should the du be ruled out of action. Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan are among the options to replace KL Rahul. Mukesh Kumar, Navdeep Saini and possibly Ishant Sharma could be handed a return should Unadkat miss out.
