Kolkata: East Bengal’s new recruitment Wedson Anselme’s paper work is getting ready, says East Bengal coach Trevor Morgan. The 23-man squad which East Bengal announced few weeks back had only two strikers citing striker issues for the Red and Gold brigade in the CFL. To solve striker problems, East Bengal coach and officials are very much keen to rope in Bangladesh club Sk. Jamal Dhanmondi striker Wedson who had been in terrific form for the Bangladesh club in the last three years.

East Bengal club conducted a medical test for all the players present today during the first day of medical test. Coach Trevor Morgan was present with his assistant Richard Dryden and goalkeeper coach Abhijit Mondal during the medical test and kept a close look on all the players. Mehtab Hossain and co. gave their blood test and ECG to the team doctors and the players will sit for a doctor’s check up tomorrow.

Trevor Morgan had urged his players inside the dressing room to forget what has happened in the last season. The gaffer also said that for a sportsman performance does not stay the same. He has also urged the players not to break the unity in the dressing room. This proves that post Morgan era in the Red and Gold dressing room, the unhealthy issues which had come forward was true.

Regarding pre-season training, Morgan said, “Frankly speaking, a proper pre-season training should be of 6 weeks but here we had to do every thing within 3-4 weeks and then we have to get ourselves ready for the CFL. From Wednesday we will commence our training in Howrah stadium before heading to Kalyani for the preparatory camp from Sunday. We will basically work on the fitness of the players in the pre-season training. Presently, only 3 players in the squad are above 30 and others are aged around 24-25. Hope the juniors grab the opportunity and prove themselves in the CFL and try to earn a place in the I-League and Federation Cup squad.”

Trevor looked very enthusiastic with his new challenge of coaching a bunch of junior players. He said , “Our performance was not up to the mark last season. But when I took the charge, I too could not do any wonders for the club. But this does not mean that East Bengal will not be able play like they did in the past in my era. So this is my challenge to make the players understand what I want from them. I always want the dressing room atmosphere to be pleasant. Players should enjoy my training rather I must not put any pressure on them which may result in poor outcome.”

Trevor is very much serious about East Bengal’s CFL campaign as the Red and Gold brigade are on the verge of creating history winning the CFL for consecutive seven times. The gaffer said, “Yes, i am well aware that we are on the verge of creating history. I will prepare the team likewise. If i win it seven times in a row, then its a huge honour for me. But that’s it. I am not thinking too long as If we do not win CFL, it won’t be  a major issue.”

Experts are keeping East Bengal ahead in the derby. Regarding this, he said, “You have to play on the field and I do not count the pen and paper counting. I f we consider a team by judging them on pen and paper then by this England would have been champions in Euro. I am also not worried about Mohun Bagan Playing in the derby or not as that’s not my business.”
