Kolkata: The Mohun Bagan side is getting ready for the historic Kolkata derby on the Super Sunday as coach Sanjoy Sen spent extra hours with his defenders in the training session this morning. The defence had been a headache for the Bagan coach of late as his team has been struggling with injuries to the key players like Brazilian Eduardo Ferreira, Raju Gaikwad, Kingshuk Debnath and Anas Edathodika. Though the condition of Anas is much better now compare to the other three. Eduardo joined the training today but the Bagan coach is still not confident about his fitness status. He said, “Yes Edu trained today. But I cannot confirm about his availability in the derby right now. We will take the call on tomorrow after the training. Let’s see how he does.”

The Bagan coach made it clear after the training that there will be no half measures from his side in the big derby and they will be going all out to grab a victory. He said, “The derby is a game where a lot of emotions get involved into it. The fans want a win at any cost and we will go all out to get a win.” But he added, “At the same time, I don’t believe that a defeat in the derby will end our chances to win the title.”

Trevor Morgan told yesterday that the derby will be a test of the strength of the defensive qualities for both the teams and Sanjoy Sen supported the statement. He said, “Trevor is correct. Both the teams have conceded just three goals in the league so far and it will be a quality game.”

The Bagan coach is giving a lot of respect to East Bengal, as he said, “Honestly, they are little ahead of us in terms of performance. They have a really strong team and have become a lot stronger compared to the last season. But we need to play well.”

Though Bagan Assistant Secretary Srinjoy Bose feels, “Considering the standings of the points table, all the matches are derby matches. But Kolkata derby is an emotional game and most of the players know the value of this game.” He still seemed angry about the controversial derby tickets published by the East Bengal officials, as he said, “Might be this is their culture. I don’t believe this is ‘unintentional’. In fact, before the start of the league, it was informed to every club that we don’t have any connection with McDowell and still they did it. We are sending the letter to The AIFF.” He added, “The color of the ticket is also in Red and Gold. I think the officials of their club have forgotten what they did in 2011 when we published the tickets in Green and Maroon. One thing they should remember, that, in the next derby if the color of the tickets is in Green and Maroon, they should take it sportingly.”

It is to see in which way the things will proceed after this buzzing controversy.
