Debasis Sen, Hyderabad: Indian captain Virat Kohli on Friday said his team is peaking at the right time for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 in England later this year. Speaking at the launch of the Indian cricket team’s newly designed jersey for the event, Kohli said, “Everyone’s really confident and comfortable with where we are as a team and as individual players as well. I think it is a great sign for any team and as a captain I couldn’t have asked for anything more. We are peaking at the right time as we had a great overseas run and it’s time to replicate the same at home. We are all looking forward to that big tournament.” The new jersey was unveiled in the presence of Indian captain Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Indian test team vice captain Ajinkya Rahane, new teenage sensation Prithvi Shaw along with Indian women cricketers Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemima Rodrigues. On being asked how it felt like when he wore the first Indian jersey, Kohli said, “Even when I got my U19 jersey, just to see your name and number at the back was the happiest feeling in the world. There is a certain level of importance and pride attached to this jersey and everyone has to realize that. It’s not something that you can get it in one good season of cricket. You have to try for excellence and show you are obsessed with making your team win every ball every minute of the game. I earned mine like that and I remember not with the senior team. Lastly the best batsman in world cricket at the moment had a small message to the budding cricketers who dreams of wearing the Indian jersey one day. “The message is pretty simple and that is chase excellence and that’s how you get this jersey eventually,” signed off Kohli. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRGecWdOs08
