Xtra Time Web Desk: Pakistan captain Babar Azam on Saturday said his side is not concerned what has happened in the past and is determined to win Sunday’s high-octane clash against India in T20 World Cup at Dubai International Stadium.
“It is important to keep things simple and stick to the basics. We shouldn’t be thinking too much about the past. We are very confident about the event and matches coming forward,” said Azam during his pre match media conference.
Pakistan has named their twelve for the match against India. The Pakistan team management has shown his faith in veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik over the likes of former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed in his final 12.
“Sarfaraz is a good player of spin and has good confidence of playing against India. But we considered best XI for this match as Shoaib Malik also plays spin very well. That’s why we have opted for this final 12,” said Babar.
It is noteworthy to recall that Sarfaraz was the last Pakistan captain to lead the Pakistani team to a major victory, defeating Virat Kohli’s Indian side in the 2017 Champions Trophy final. It seems that the tables have turned now and he won’t be featuring in the main squad against India tomorrow night.
Talking about the strengths of his team, Babar said, “Our main strength is our batting. The way our batters have been performing over the last couple of months, I am confident that they will perform in the game against India as well.”
