Internet Desk: Virat Kohli led Indian ODI team will wear new colours in the upcoming tournaments. Their new jersey has the name of new sponsor OPPO, a world renowned mobile telecom company.

Though there is no change in the design of the jersey. In India’s earlier jersey, the title sponsor was Star who were a part with the team for many years and were the Men in Blue’s sponsor in 2015 World Cup in Australia.

Star India’s contract ended with the BCCI earlier in March this year. After that OPPO became the biggest bidder and they grabbed the contract to feature the Indian jersey.

According to the media OPPO has given RS 1079 crore to BCCI to feature their name as title sponsor of Indian cricket team for the next five years. They will pay Rs. 4.61 crore after each bilateral match and Rs. 1.56 crore for every ICC match to the parent body of Indian cricket.

“Nine companies bought the tender document, but only two companies put in their bids today. The board’s legal arm and auditors evaluated the bids received. It is a five-time increase from the previous rights holder,” said BCCI CEO Rahul Johari.

Though it is yet to be seen whether India are going to wear their new jersey anytime soon as BCCI is yet to decide whether they will play the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
