XtraTime Web Desk: India skipper Virat Kohli gets a special honour from his state cricket association DDCA as they unveiled a new pavilion stand at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium named after the India skipper.

Virat Kohli shared his happiness after being honoured with a stand to his name and shared an anecdote from the past on this momentous occasion.

Kohli said he remembered seeking autographs from India players when he came to the stadium to watch the Test match against Zimbabwe in 2001. India skipper further expressed his gratitude for being honoured at the same venue.

"In 2000-2001, there was a Test vs Zimbabwe at Kotla. We were sitting across from the pavillion stand. Sehwag. Yuvi paaji. Srinath was standing at the boundary. I was asking him for an autograph. Never thought I would ever be honoured at the same stadium."

Kohli thanked DDCA president Rajat Sharma, his team, Kapil Dev and his family during the unveiling ceremony which was held at the Weightlifting Hall of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

"I am a bit nervous seeing so many important people. I was not expecting such a grand stage to honour me. Thank You Rajat Sir and my team who is present here. All the former players of Delhi, Kapil Dev Sir, I thank you a lot. It's weird to talk about this but I just want to thank the people who are present here - my wife and family.

The entire Team India was in attendance at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium when the Indian captain across all format was honoured with a dedicated stand on his name in the Delhi stadium.

A short video and an animation film on Kohli's journey from being an U-19 player to India captain was also shown.
