Internet Desk: Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli today said his side is confident to do well on the challenging conditions and the team is eagerly waiting to face South Africa at their own backyard. According to the skipper it will give him more satisfaction if he does well on a turf which is tough to bat on.
“As a team we are confident. We are looking forward to face the South African team. Playing for the country is the most important. When you do things in challenging conditions it gives more satisfaction, that’s for sure.
“Out bowling has come a long way, batting has come a long way. We will try to do well than the last time. It’s an opportunity for us to go back again. Try to do the same thing in a much better way,” said Kohli at the press-conference before leaving for the South Africa tour.
The team has performed really well in 2017, but according to Kohli they are not complacent with result and the hunger to perform in South Africa will be the same.
“You need to play cricket for a long period of time to win abroad. The hunger this time is the same. We want to do what we couldn’t the last time around,” said Kohli.
“Cricket is played with bat and ball. Conditions don’t matter. I have no doubt in the ability of the team. We are on the right track.”
Kohli got married to Bollywood diva Anushka Sharma on December 11 in Italy. The India skipper didn’t play the ODI and T20I series against Sri Lanka due to this reason. As per Kohli this break won’t affect him a bit as cricket is in his blood.
“I was away for something which was much more important in my life but I had been training. Switching back to cricket was not difficult at all. Cricket is in my blood,” added Virat.
Team India coach Ravi Shastri also backed the team and said that the World No.1 team is ready for their forthcoming challenge.
“The boys are ready for the challenge. We toured Australia three years ago. We did well in England. The preparations have been good,” said Shastri.
“We know South Africa is a big challenge. The best thing of this team is we want to embrace the challenge.”
