Virat Kohli and Co. completes a humiliating whitewash over Sri Lanka

Internet Desk: India registered a rare feat when they inflicted a 5-0 whitewash over island hosts Sri Lanka. In the tour of Sri Lanka, India had previously whitewashed the test series 3-0 and yet again registered a 5-0 win in the ODI series. Skipper Virat Kohli scored yet another century which sees him reaching 30th ton, equaling Ricky Ponting. Only Sachin Tendulkar has more ODI centuries more than him, i.e. 49.

AS for the former captain MS Dhoni is considered, he created two new records. He became the first wicketkeeper to achieve 100 stumping in ODI along with a record of 103 not outs.

Sri Lanka batted first and scored a mere 238, with Lahiru Thirimanne scoring the highest runs of 67. Chasing such a low scoring target was comfortable for the men in blue, who achieved it in 46.3 overs and won the game with 6 wickets.

With the early departure of openers Rohit Sharma for 16 and Ajinkya Rahane for 5, the helm of the Indian innings was held by Virat Kohli who scored a brilliant 110* which consisted 9 boundaries. Manish Pandey scored 36 while Kedar Jadhav scored a good knock of 67 runs and thereby built a good partnership with Kohli. MS Dhoni remained not out on 1.

As for the Lankan bowlers are concerned, they were bashed right and left by Kohli and Co. Lasith Malinga, Vishwa Fernando and Malinda Pushpakumara took a wicket each.

After a successful test and ODI series, India will play one T20 match in the Lankan soil.
