Vijay Hazare Trophy: Ishan Kishan slams career best 173 against MP as Jharkhand post record total
Xtra Time Web Desk: Talented wicketkeeper batsman from Jharkhand, Ishan Kishan slammed a career best 173 runs to help his side post a mammoth total of 422/9 on the opening day of Vijay Hazare Trophy matches at the Holkar stadium in Indore on Saturday. This is also second highest total in List A cricket in India. The previous best was 438/4 by South Africa against India at Mumbai in 2015. Interestingly, the previously highest total in Vijay Hazare Trophy was held by Madhya Pradesh when they put together 412 for 6 against Railways in 2010.
Ishan, who plays for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League warmed up for the cash rich league which will start next month. Ishan’s 84 ball knock was studded with 11 sixes and 19 fours, which is now the highest score by a wicket-keeper batsman in the history of Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The flamboyant left hander started cautiously as he took 40 balls to reach his fifty but thereafter he accelerated his innings. He reached his hundred in just 74 balls. He took 12 more deliveries to bring up his 150. Just when he was looking to set for a double hundred and more, Kishan was out stumped for 173.
