On Friday India women cricketer Harleen Deol produced a stunning effort to dismiss England’s Amy Jones during the first T20 at Northampton. Harleen was fielding at long-off when Amy Jones lofted one towards her in the 19th over of the innings. Displaying great presence of mind, Harleen decided to loft the ball in the air after seeing herself losing her balance. She quickly threw her body to pull off an outstanding catch.
Legendary Sachin Tendulkar took to twitter in applauding the effort by Harleen. Tendulkar tweeted, “That was a brilliant catch @imharleenDeol. Definitely the catch of the year for me!”
Shikha Pandey, the fortunate bowler to pick the wicket of Amy later described the catch as ‘Harleen catch’
“Not the result we wanted but we play for moments like these!! Decided- From now on we shall call this type of catch as ‘Harleen catch’! You beauty Harleen Deol #DefyingGravity,” she wrote on Twitter.
BCCI Women on its official twitter handle tweeted, “The result didn’t go our way today but here is something special from the game.”
Former England player and commentator Isha Guha tweeted, “Beaut @imharleenDeol #ENGvIND”
Former Australia cricketer Lisa Sthalekar also lauded Harleen for her sensational catch. “OMG @imharleenDeol take a bow!! Calling it now the best we will see this series!,” tweeted Sthalekar.
