Xtra Time Web Desk : Former U19 World Cup winning Indian skipper Unmukt Chand on Tuesday made his debut in the Big Bash League as he featured for the Melbourne Renegades in their match against Hobart Hurricanes at Melbourne’s Docklands Stadium.

The 28 year old who retired from Indian cricket last year, settled in USA in order to play international cricket. Earlier he was picked up by the Melbourne Renegades to play for them in the Big Bash League, thus becoming the first ever Indian male cricketer to feature in the Australian T20 league.

In the year 2012, Unmukt led India U19 to a remarkable win against Australia in the final of the U19 World Cup and went on to lift the trophy as a captain. The right handed batter played a captain’s knock of 111 runs to guide his team through to victory.

Chand’s career after that however didn’t bloom the way he wanted to, although he played for Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League alongside featuring in 67 first class matches.
