United SC kicks off their pre-season training for the 2016-17 season

Kolkata: Former I-League outfit United Sports Club kicks off their pre-season training for the 2016-17 season from Wednesday at Kalyani A Block Ground.

A total of 25 players attended the session on the first day, senior players Sangram Mukherjee, Budiram Tudu, Abhijit Das and Sankar Oraon were around along side home grown talents like Jagannath Oraon, Manotosh Chakladar, Sujoy Oraon, Dipankar Sarkar, Pravat Lakra, Sandip Bhattacharjee, Babun Das, Santu Singh and others.

United SC have appointed former India International Subrata Bhattacharya as their new chief coach. Bhattacharya, who is widely regarded as one of the best coach in Indian football, has agreed to share his professional experiences and give his services to the Purpel Brigade. Partha Sen and Nirmalya Halder also work as his deputy.

“We have a young side but I have full faith in them. I am hopeful that this team will give a tough competition their opponents.” Bhattacharya said.

New season began with an introductory period between the players, coaching staff and club officials, followed by some physical drills under the watchful eyes of head coach Subrata Bhattacharya to evaluate fitness levels of players, before starting full fledged training and practice match.
