UEFA Champions League: Real Madrid lost but Inter Milan’s win kept group B alive; Bayern and Atletico drew

XtraTime Web Desk – It’s a horrible time to for Zinedine Zidane and his Real Madrid team. They started well in La Liga but is now faltering while their performance in Champions League can even push them to Europa League this season.

Playing against Shaktar Donetsk, Real Madrid needed a win in order to qualify for the round of 16. However, without Benzema and Sergio Ramos, Real Madrid never found their momentum. Varane again had a very poor game in the Champions League as Real Madrid lose 2-0 in the fifth round of the group stage. Dentinho scored for Shaktar in the 57th minute while Manor Solomon gave the host a 2-0 in the 82nd minute.

In another match of group B, Inter Milan faced Borussia Monchengladbach. Inter had to win in order to stay in the tournament. Monchengladbach is on a fine form and is leading the group at the moment. However, after a tough match, Inter managed to beat them 3-2. Darmian scored in the 17th minute and gave Inter an important lead but Plea scored in the 46th minute to level the score. Romelu Lukaku then scored twice in the 64th and 73th minute. Plea again scored in the 75th minute but they couldn’t score again.

With Inter’s win, Group B in the Champions League is wide open. Monchengladbach is leading with 8 points from 5 matches. Shaktar Donetsk is the 2nd place with 7 points from 5 points while both the heavyweights Real Madrid and Inter Milan are in 3rd and 4th place respectively. Real Madrid are in 3rd place with 7 points from 5 matches while Inter is in 4th with 5 points from 5 matches.

Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich were locked level at 1-1 after 90 minutes. Joao Felix gave Atletico the lead in the 26th minute. Thomas Muller equalised in the 86th minute to give Bayern a point. Both the team created few chances in the middle but failed to capitalize.

Bayern is safe as they are leading their group. They have 13 points from 5 games. Atletico Madrid is in the second position with 6 points from 5 games. Salzburg has 4 points from 5 games while Locomotiv Moscow has 3.

Liverpool beat Ajax 1-0. Curtis Jones scored for them in the 58th minute and secured all 3 points. Liverpool has 13 points after 5 matches and Atalanta secured 8 points from 5 games. Ajax has 7 while Midtjylland has 1.
