UEFA Champions League: Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace helped Juventus beat FC Barcelona; Manchester United are out

Two very different night for two greats, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

XtraTime Web Desk- The two GOATs of modern day football faced one another after a long time at Camp Nou. However, Lionel Messi had no answer of Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace.

Another remarkable night at the UEFA Champions League. Juventus beat FC Barcelona 3-0 as Ronaldo struck on 13th and 52nd mark. Weston McKennie scored the other goal for Juventus in the 20th minute. Lionel Messi however couldn’t make a mark in the game. Barcelona took a lot of shots and kept many on target but there was one man who was stopping them all. Gianluigi Buffon at 42 years of age kept a clean sheet against Lionel Messi’s Barcelona.

Even the Barcelona qualified, they won’t be happy with their performance. It’s just not one match as Barcelona are losing very often these days. Manager Ronald Koeman needs to solve the problem, else it’s going to be a very frustrating season for FC Barcelona. Barcelona finished second and qualified for the round of 16 while Juventus topped the group to enter the round of 16.

Manchester United face RB Leipzig in a must win game on Tuesday. Unfortunately Ole Gunnar solskjaer’s side lost 3-2 against the German side and failed to qualify for the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. Former Manchester City player Angelinho scored in the 2nd minute to give Leipzig the crucial lead. Haidara then scored in the 13th minute to double the lead. Kluivert then scored in the 69th minute to kill Manu’s hope. United however did make a comeback. Bruno Fernandes scored in the 80th minute when Paul pogba in the 82nd. However, that’s that! United couldn’t manage to win and is now out of the UEFA Champions League and will be playing the Europa League this season. Leipzig however qualified.

Paris Saint Germain was supposed to face Istanbul Besaksehir on Tuesday but the match didn’t take place because of a controversy. PSG and Besaksehir’s players walked off in solidarity after the fourth official passed racist comments on Besaksehir’s assistant coach. The match was called off after that incident. UEFA decided that the match will take place on Wednesday with a new set of officials.

Chelsea and Sevilla qualified from their group. Chelsea had a 1-1 draw against Krasnodar while Sevilla won 3-1 against Stade Rennais. Chelsea topped the group as Sevilla finished second.

Borussia Dortmund and Lazio also qualified for the round of 16.
