Transfer Market: Mohun Bagan rope in Bengal’s biggest star of Santosh Trophy

Kolkata: Mohun Bagan begins their business in the transfer market in an emphatic fashion as they roped in West Bengal’s biggest star in this season’s Hero Santosh Trophy – Tirthankar Sarkar. Tirthankar impressed one and all with his captivating football on the heart of the midfield. His two breathtaking free kicks in the semi final and final have been the most discussed aspects of the Santosh Trophy. Though Tirthankar told www.xtratime.in , “Yes I am in advanced talks with Mohun Bagan and I believe the deal will be closed soon.”
 
The former Mohun Bagan academy graduate, and a former member of the Indian Arrows side under Desmond Blupin, Tirthankar has always been a player with a big potential. Having played for the Mariners, he is someone who isn’t new to the intricacies Kolkata football and its expectations.
 
His biggest strength is his set pieces, and some also call him one of the best ball playing Bengali players today. It has been his service from the midfield that has helped the likes of Jiten Murmu and Baidyasagar Singh to score freely upfront.
