XtraTime Web Desk: The ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan might have deprived fans across the globe of some cricketing action on the field apart from ICC events. But the cricketers from both cross border nation share a great bond and friendship with each other. The same cricketers, who are fierce competitors on the field, have enormous respect for each other off it. Here are some of the best moments of friendships between the cricketers of both countries: Sourav Ganguly sends home-cooked food for Inzamam Former India and Pakistan captains Sourav Ganguly and Inzamam ul Haq were the best of friends during their playing days and they have still maintained that friendship. Ahead of Pakistan’s tour to India in 2015, Inzamam had to come down to Kolkata to shoot for an ad on the series. Sourav ensured Inzamam had homemade food in the city hotel he was staying in. Inzamam later revealed it in an interview, “I was staying in a hotel in Kolkata during the shooting but the food always came from Sourav’s home.” Both Ganguly and Inzamam shared the best moment during Indian teams tour to Pakistan in 2014. Sourav once requested Inzamam to bring bats for him from Pakistan and the latter gleefully obliged. Wasim Akram’s surprise gift for Sachin Tendulkar Two of the greatest ambassadors of the game for their respective countries, Sachin Tendulkar and Wasim Akram always shared a great friendship till today. Back in 1999, few days before the first Test at Chennai, Sachin Tendulkar received the Padma Shri award. Since both the sides were practicing at the same venue, Akram took the opportunity to congratulate Tendulkar on receiving the honour and also presented him a small gift. Wasim’s gesture on that day had a positive impact on most of the fans at a time when the relations between the two countries were unfavourable. Later during a practice session in IPL 2015, the ‘Sultan of Swing’ was seen showing Sachin’s son Arjun Tendulkar the art of swing bowling. Arjun, who is also a left-arm medium pacer like the Pakistani legend, learnt how to bring the ball back in to the right-handers. Virat Kohli keeps his promise to Mohammad Amir Ace Indian batsman Virat Kohli (was not the captain then) made a great gesture of friendship by presenting Pakistani left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir his bat on the eve of the India Pakistan T20 World Cup clash at the Eden Gardens in 2016. Kohli was having a batting session during India's net practice when Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi along with Amir went to greet him. Kohli kept his promise by presenting Amir his bat which the Pak pacer requested few months back during Asia Cup. Kohli also appreciated Amir's return to the international scenario after a five-year ban on charges of spot-fixing. “I am very happy to see Amir back in action. He understood his mistake and has corrected himself and came back. He has always been an outstanding bowler…” Kohli said ahead of the Asia Cup in Bangladesh. Later Amir also openly stated that Kohli was the best batsman he has ever bowled to. Pakistani bowler Kainat Imtiaz revealed Jhulan Goswami as her inspiration. Pakistani women cricketer Kainat Imtiaz revealed that she had taken the sport after watching Indian speedster Jhulan Goswami. She was over the moon to meet her inspiration ahead of the India Pakistan Women’s World Cup clash in England in 2017. Kainat shared a very inspiring story that day on Instagram about how she got motivated to take fast bowling after watching Jhulan Goswami for the first time during the Asia Cup held in Pakistan in 2005. Kainat revealed that she was the "ball picker during the tournament" and saw Jhulan Goswami, "the fastest bowler of that time." Kainat confessed that Goswami was an inspiration and it is because of her that she took up cricket. "It's a proud moment for me as after 12 years today (Sunday), in 2017, I am playing this ODI World Cup with one of my inspirations and getting more inspired." Later after the World Cup clash, both Jhulan and Kainat met for dinner together in a restaurant. Shaz and Waz still remain the best of friends Former stars Ravi Shastri and Wasim Akram shared the best of friendship since their playing days. Their friendship continued into the commentary box as they hosted a show together on a popular channel called the Shaz and Waz show. However, it was soon clear that there was tremendous off-screen chemistry too, between Shaz (Ravi Shastri) and Waz (Wasim Akram). They “are more than just co-hosts of a show ", the two had been close friends for almost two decades. More importantly, they share a healthy respect for each other's knowledge of the game. Both of them also shared the best moment on the cricket pitch. It was the tied Test match between India and Pakistan in Bangalore in 1987.
