XtraTime Web Desk – A decent result for the Bengaluru FC as the blues beat Odisha FC 2-1.

Bengaluru were clear favorites going into the match but Odisha FC gave them quite a fight. Bengaluru dominated the possession and played offensive football. Thus put a lot of pressure on Odisha’s defence. From the very start, Bengaluru created a lot of chance but however they failed to convert.

In the 21st minute, there was a chaos in Odisha defence. A total of 5 shots or key passes were blocked in a matter of 20 seconds to keep Odisha FC in the game.

However, it was the Indian captain who broke the deadlock in the 38th minute as Sunil Chhetri scored from a header that was tough even for his standard. However, he put it behind the nets and scored his 3rd goal of the season and became the first Indian to contribute in 50 goals. With this, Bengaluru finished the half 1-0.

Odisha FC played better football in the second half and they got their reward in the 71st minute as their captain Steven Taylor brought them into level terms. He scored beautifully from a well planned set-piece!

Odisha’s happiness however was short lived. Cleiton gave Bangalore the lead in the 79th minute as no defender marked him and he scored from a beautiful volley. Odisha then tried to comeback but all their effort went into vain as Bengaluru won the match 2-1.

Like most of the matches this season, a controversial decision was again made by the referee. At a point where 2 of Odisha’s players were clear moving towards Bengaluru’s goal, the sideline referee called it an offside. When it was seen in the replay, it was clear that the player wasn’t. Nevertheless, Bengaluru won the match and is now at 3rd place in the table with 12 points from 6 games while Odisha managed just 1 from 6.
