XtraTime Web Desk: An official complaint from Ravindra Jadeja is believed to be the main reason for the ouster of former India cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar from the BCCI commentary panel. The left-arm spinner wrote a letter to the Board complaining about Manjrekar’s ‘bits and pieces’ comment about him. It did not go down well with the Saurashtra all-rounder who took to Twitter to express his displeasure. Manjrekar during his commentary stint in the 2019 World Cup in England, expressed his displeasure about Jadeja. He was quoted on air saying, "I am not a big fan of bits and pieces players which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner,"   Jadeja, who played a blinder in the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand, almost taking India to the final reacted strongly on twitter. He tweeted, “Still I have played twice the number of matches you have played and I m still playing. Learn to respect people who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhea.”

According to insiders in BCCI, the 54-year-old commentator was not in good books in recent time among the top bosses in the board.  The board officials were not happy with Manjrekar’s stand with the JNU students during the recent CAA protests. Many believe his ouster may have been also due to this political reason as well. Manjrekar was very vocal about CAA and had given his thumbs up to Mumbai who protested and were standing with JNU. The Mumbaikar has been in news for all wrong reasons. Manjrekar’s jibe at co-commentator Harsha Bhogle during the Pink Ball test match at Eden Gardens was condemned by everyone. He was forced to apologise for his comments on Harsha. One more reason for his (Manjrekar) ouster has been his biasness towards his hometown. One of the criticisms against him was his support towards cricketer hailing from Mumbai and even Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL for that matter. He’s often heard favouring MI in the IPL or talking up Mumbai cricketers on air. In fact, last year during the IPL, he even bluntly supported MI in the final.

This is why Sanjay Manjrekar was ousted from the BCCI commentary panel
