Internet Desk: Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar posted an emotional and inspiring message for Indian women cricketer Mithali Raj on Monday. The master blaster wished Mithali and her team ahead of the Women’s World Cup semi finals against Australia on Wednesday. In his message Tendulkar introduced Mithali to the fans, how her father, a retired Air Force Sergeant took the pain in changing her habit of sleeping late in the day. Sachin gave full credit to Mithali’s father for spotting the talent in her daughter at such an young age and motivating her to become what she is today.

The Indian woman captain is now the World Record holder for scoring the most runs in ODI’s.

Mithali has helped India disposed of New Zealand to set up a semi-final clash against six-time champion Australia in Derby on Thursday. She has been in supreme form, so far scoring 356 runs in the tournament, including the match-winning 109 against the Kiwis. The India captain (774 rating points), who became the highest ODI run getter a few days back, is just five points away from number one Lanning (779) after starting the tournament at second place. No other Indian batswoman is at the top-10.

This is what Tendulkar posted on Instagram :

MEET @mithaliraj: Her father, retired Air Force Sergeant Dorai Raj, wanted to combat 8-year-old Mithali’s habit of sleeping in late every morning. So, he took her along with him to her brother’s Cricket coaching sessions early every morning. If anyone had told 8-year-old Mithali Raj that one day she would grow up to break a world record in Women’s ODI Cricket, she may or may not have believed it. All it takes is a moment when talent is recognised and steered in the right direction. It was great speaking with you yesterday, Mithali. You are a tremendous athlete and it’s always amazing to watch you play. Keep up the great work! Come on, #TeamIndia!  All the best, #WomenInBlue!  @icc @unicef #CricketForGood
