XtraTime Web Desk: Do you remember Mumbai fast bowler Avishkar Salvi who played for India for a brief period? He made his debut against Bangladesh in 2003 and went on to represent the country in 4 ODI’s before injuries plagued his career. [caption id="attachment_88382" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Avishkar Salvi is a former Indian Cricketer.[/caption] The 38 year old Mumbaikar has been appointed as the fast bowling coach of Oman national team. He will be in this role on an assignment basis. Oman qualified for the T20 World Cup to be played in Australia in October. Salvi is not new to this role of coaching as he had already coached the Pondicherry Ranji team in 2018 season. Pondicherry did reasonably well under him that season. Last year in September, Duleep Mendis (former Sri Lankan captain) who is currently the Oman head coach, approached Salvi to hold 10-day camp for their fast bowlers, in Muscat. Pleased with his work in identifying talent, the Oman Cricket Board (OCB) persisted with him. In October, Oman national team went to Abu Dhabi to play in a five-nation T20 tournament, which was a warm-up event for the qualifiers of the T20 World Cup, and won all our four matches there. Salvi was also the bowling coach of Oman during the Asia Cup (for Emerging teams) in Bangladesh in November last year too. Oman beat Sri Lanka's under-23 team in that tournament.
