This former I League winning footballer is fighting for life
Xtra Time Web Desk: Former I League winning footballer Sanjay Parte is fighting for life. Parte, who was part of the 2010-11 I League winning Salgaocar FC side, is suffering from blood cancer. The side-back won the Federation Cup with Mahindra United in 2005 season. Parte also represented both Kolkata giants – East Bengal and Mohun Bagan. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Tata Medical Centre in Mumbai. Despite being a defender he scored many goals for Mohun Bagan. He was one of the key footballer for Bagan in 2005 season as the green and maroon won the Kolkata League under Amal Dutta's coaching. Later he joined East Bengal. He also played for Mohammedan Sporting and Mumbai FC. Parte completed C Licence coaching from Ahmedabad as he wanted to be a successful coach. Parte said, "I appeal to the fans of Kolkata Football to help me. Thanks to Henry Menezes and Ajay Singh as the helped me financially."
